I am my Own…

They said I was eccentric,
A sordid egocentric.
They said I was a total fool
An artist by choice, not a corporate mule.

They said I will fail,
Oh most certain to derail.
Impossibly ambitious,
Malicious, or even mendacious.

I ignored their hostile recitals,
Overlooked their prejudiced titles.
Invulnerable, insusceptible, Indestructible to the core.
I remained my own and promised myself to soar.

One day, two days, a year, and then another,
Time passed by, but my resolve refused to suffer.
Today is present, the time to shine bright
They were proved wrong, and I was proved right…
